Pottery

After the tamaire, Grace and Silvia went to a little pottery studio and invited me to come with them.

Puff-puff plates!

This pot was fired on its side (the side that's concave). It rested on seashells in the kiln, which you can see on the side. The dark green glaze flowed down from the opposite side.

Here's his giant kiln, powered by fire.

Toothy fish cups.

The design is based on a salmon. He had this one handy to show us.

Puff-puff!

I made a cat cup.

Grace has done pottery before. She went to the wheel.

It was Silvia's first time. She made a plate, some chopstick holders, and a toothy fish cup.

Here's us!
They went back to Sapporo the next day. I guess they'll get their pottery once it's fired... eventually?
