Obihiro

There was a minor earthquake last night at around 2 am. This one woke me up! It wasn't strong but it made my hotel room rattle. But the hotel breakfast was nice!

Here are some statues outside the Obihiro Culture Building where the workshops were.

After the workshops, I walked around Obihiro with three other girls. Oda (from Norway), Thea, and Onji (both from America). We got pork bowls for lunch. Butadon is an Obihiro specialty.
Yummy! There was also a super adorable baby at the table next to us.

After lunch we walked to Midorigaoka Park, where there was a small art museum. I couldn't take any pictures inside, but I got plenty of pictures of trees in and around the park. The fall colours are coming in!

 More birch trees for mom.

 Here's Oda!
The girls commented on how many statues of naked women there are in Hokkaido.  But outside the art museum, there was a naked man statue for a change.

A gemstone table.

An extra funky tree.
 This statue was titled "Victory".

We had fun ringing these bells. They were kindly labeled with the note they each make so we could make a nice little melody. That's Onji on the left, Thea on the right.

More to come tomorrow.
