Saga

A long drive today through Saga into Nagasaki.
We pretty much only went to one place today, the Yoshinogari Historical Park.
There's Himika and Yayoi, the park's mascots. They're dressed in historical outfits of the village. Despite appearances, Himika has the traditional male hairstyle. He's Yayoi's older brother.

 Here's the playground area.
The big ol' Fuwafuwa Dome. Bouncy bouncy.
Here's the Big Ball field.

Some nice nature in this park.
And here we're getting into the historical area.

The doors on these buildings are all so small. When I stood in front of this one, it came up to about nipple height.

The doorways on these huts were even smaller.
The view from these watchtowers was really great. I mean, that's what they're for.

Displays of handcrafts, fabric weaving and dyeing.

 A headless skeleton.

These are burial pots. They used to put people in there and stick 'em in the ground.
 Ancient magatamas.
Some of them look really nice. They even had a workshop where you could carve your own but it takes about an hour.
A deadly moat surrounded by the ol' killing spikes.
Himika sure is a cute girl (male).
There were activities for all of these things. I saw a bunch of little kids outside trying to start fires.

It was very historical, but despite being a completely different culture it was somewhat familiar. It reminded me of First Nations historical sites. More memories of home.
