Asahikawa's ice sculptures

Asahikawa's snow festival was also ending on February 11th! This one was their 60th. The poster with Asappy sure is cute.
There were ice sculptures all the way down the main road. I took pictures during the day, then took some more in the evening when they were lit up.
"Chatting with the cockatoos".

"Rising dragons". There were a lot of dragons here.

"The fairy musician".

"Turning point".

"Family".

"The Southern Sea".

"Awakened from the Broken Seal".

"Crystal Skull of the Aztecs".

"King of Animals".

"The Crest of Hokkaido".

These leopards didn't have a name.

"The Jurassic World".

"Fun of Water".

"Flying Dragon".

"Jump!!"

"Diamond Ring".

"Poseidon".

I love the sea monster he's riding.

"Sacred Horse".

 "Dragon God".

 "The Moon's Reflection".

"Showdown". Those thin centipede legs must have been hard to do.

"Ferocious Eagles of the North Sea".

The chubby cat statue was all bundled up.

"Azure Dragon: Symbol of Prosperity, Song of Life".

"Salmon".

"Mermaids Frolicking in the Moon's Reflection".

"Life".
 Turtles, seahorses, and manta rays.

"Highlights of the Adventure, The Crystal Cave". It's Tolkien!
It was a bit hard to get a good angle of Gandalf here.

"Thai Boxing".

"Bundjil the Creator".

Bundjil the Wedge-tail Eagle is the sacred Totem of the Wathaurong and the creator ancestor spirit of the Kulin Aboriginal people of Australia.

"Freedom and Peace".

"Dragon". Yeah, this one's just called "Dragon".

"The Sound of Time".

I like this owl.

"We Fight Together".

"Connecting the Past to the Future". More Ainu imagery.

"The Clown's Trick". I guess his trick is being terrifying.

"Magic Lamp".

"God of Wind". That would be Fujin, riding on his storm cloud.

"Cocoa Woman". I don't get it.

GO HOME
"Wildcat and its kitten". GO HOME is either part of the title of the name of the group, it's unclear.

"Peacock".

"Secret Base".

Hey, this one looks familiar.

"Sacred Beast - Griffin -".

"That's a Huge Mouth!" The title really makes this one.

"Life". That's the second sculpture with that name.

"Spirits of the Forest".

"Life". That's the third one, but this time the title takes on a slightly different connotation.

"Tiger and her cub".

"Memories of Past Days".

"Alluring Beauty".

This is a cute little snow slide.

Here are shots of the street.

And here's that light tower you can see there.

That's it for the main street. Up next are the photos from Tokiwa Park, where the main festival is.
