From Wikipedia: A bounenkai (忘年会, literally "forget the year gathering") is a Japanese drinking party that takes place at the end of the year, and is generally held among groups of co-workers or friends. The purpose of the party, as its name implies, is to forget the woes
and troubles of the past year, and hopefully look to the new year,
usually by consumption of large amounts of alcohol.
On Friday night the junior high school staff had our end of year party.
The teacher who planned the menu asked me earlier that day if I like sashimi.
Lo and behold, we had sashimi!
Here's a grilled mackerel.
Wagyu beef with rough-cut wasabi! It was very decadent.
And chirashizushi.
It was a very fun night. I like having the chance to see the teachers in a non-work environment.
By the way, look at this dangly boy!
This thing is like two feet long. In awe at the size of this absolute unit.
